A theme here is an arising question, sometimes expressed as: What is the future of the work? Probably, the same as it has always been. So, from our own somewhat more limited point of view, perhaps one answer is to keep working. Then, a more modest question: what is the next step?

The specifics are governed by time, place and person. In my own world, Guitar Circle activities have four main centres of activity: Europe, the West Coast, New England and Argentina. Particular approaches are different in each Centre. In Seattle, the focus has recently moved to taking our experience of working in Guitar Craft for 25 years into schools. In New England, moving into children’s education in various ways. In Europe, to create a Guitar Circle House to support a new generation of League Of Crafty Guitarists; to take the creative current that acted through Guitar Craft out into the world through live performance – excellent live performance! In Argentina, to codify and organize the fundamental guitar exercises and repertoire, to be available for the next generation.

The overall theme is: moving out into the world. Maybe this is partly because of the nature of our speciality: Music is primarily a social undertaking.

Training: we hold courses regularly on three continents. In between these, we have online Special Study Groups with regular reporting, comments and feedback.

A drive to St. Petrox and a hilltop call to the Minx at Barbara’s cottage.
Dinner 19.30

Anthony Blake gave a talk 20.45 – 22.10. This is the best talk I have heard from AGEB since the first in December 1974. It told me what I needed to hear.
